Botanical Description
This shrub is 0,5-3,0m tall. The juvenile parts are thinly pubescent.

The leaves are synanthous, chartaceous. The petiole, rhachis and sometimes veins are aculeate. The leaflet shape is variable, oblate, ovate-subacute, ovate-long-acuminate, or hastate. The lateral leaflets are 45-130 x 30-90mm, terminal leaflet 45-130 x 45-120mm. The stipels are glandular, obtuse or truncate.

The inflorescences are lax, contemporary with the leaves, distally erect. The peduncle and rhachis are progressively elongating to 500mm. The flowers are deflexed at anthesis, not gaping. The calyx is red. The tube is narrowly campanulate, subtruncate. The teeth are spreading, the abaxial tooth oblong, others acute, 2mm long. The vexillum is scarlet, deflexed, obtuse, 35-50 x 14-21mm, subglabrous. The alae are oblong-arcuate, 6-12 x 3mm. The carina segments are partly connate abaxially or, rarely, free, quadrangular-unguiculate, 6-8 x 3-4mm. The stamens are included, diadelphous with vexillary filament partly coherent, disc with 10 rounded lobes, white.

The fruit is subligneous, falcate, moniliform, blackish, smooth. The seeds are scarlet, 6,0-7,0 x 5,0-6,2mm. The hilum is oval, depressed, pale, 3,5-4,0 x 2,0mm.

Sowing instructions
SPRING Scarify the seed coating. Soak the seeds in warm water of 86°F for 24-48h (Change the water every 12 hours) until the seeds swell. Sow the seeds at 10mm depth in the Well Drained Seed Sowing Mix between 68-77°F. The container with the seeds is placed in a saucer of water until germination occurs. As a result, the moisture reaches the seeds by capillary action and ensures that the seeds do not dry out. The seeds germinate in 2-4 weeks.
